(EC No.:

Mannanase is a lytic enzyme that catalyzes the random hydrolysis of mannans and their derivatives which are mainly found in plants.

Mannanase is also known as endo-1,4-β-mannanase, endo-1,4-β-mannase, endo-1,4-beta-mannosidase, and others. Mannanase enzyme is the second most important enzyme in the hydrolysis of hemicellulase after xylanase enzyme. Mannanase enzyme finds application in various industries like- paper and pulp, food, feed, oil, textile and pharmaceutical industry.

Prime Industrial Uses:

  • Mannanase enzyme  is used for bioleaching in the paper and pulp industry for the removal of lignin molecules.

  • Used as hydrolytic enzymes in the detergent industry because they provide high cleaning functionality.

  • Used as a feed additive for the animals which enhances the nutritional intake in animals and fish.

  • Used in enhancing the yield of coffee during coffee production.

  • Used as a slime control agent in the cooling and wastewater treatment plants.

  • Ethanol production.
